The problem with the installer discussed in this Technical Note has been corrected in Express Sync 1.02. The information below does not apply to versions 1.02 and up.

When Express Sync installs, it must install all the program files and also register itself with the HotSync Manager. If you had to reboot during the install, this registration should be done after the reboot. For unknown reasons, this registration may not occur. The following steps should be performed to complete the installation.

  1. Confirm Express Sync is installed on your computer. It should be in X:\Program Files\Express Sync, where X: is a drive letter (probably C: or D:). Below, where ever you see X:, replace it with the actual drive letter. You should see the following files:
    condmgr.dll
    esinstall.exe
    esinstall.log
    HSAPI.dll
    irunin.dat
    irunin.ini
    irunin.lng
    logfile.txt
    Reaction.css
    Reaction.js
    Register.html
    ReleaseNotes.html
    WABConduit.chm
    WABConduit.dll

  2. If esinstall.log is not present, then the installation did not complete and this needs to be done manually.
    1. Open a DOS window (Start | Programs | Command Prompt).
    2. In the DOS window type the following commands.Remember to replace X: with the actual drive letter
      X:
      cd Program Files\Express Sync
      esinstall.exe install -D "X:\Program Files\Express Sync" -l 21

    3. Express Sync should now be installed. Open the customize window for Express Sync from the HotSync icon. Ensure the license key is properly entered.
