Express Sync requires that the first synchronization performed
after the installation of Express Sync is a one-way
synchronization. This will have the effect of wiping out all the
contacts in your Windows Address Book or your Palm Address Book,
depending on the direction of the synchronization. This Techical
Note provides step-by-step instructions on how to merge your
Windows Address Book with the Palm Address Book. You may want to
do this if neither your Windows Address Book or your Palm Address
Book is completely up-to-date with respect to the other. These
steps need to be done before your first
synchronization.
-
Backup you Windows Address Book. This can be done from
|
| .
-
Configure Express Sync to do a one-way sync that copies your
handheld address book to the Windows Address Book. See Techical Note 6 for instructions on
configuring Express Sync.
-
Perform a HotSync operation. This will overwrite any data in
your Windows Address Book.
-
Import the WAB file created in step 1:
|
| .
-
Your Windows Address Book now contains all the contacts from
your Windows Address Book and your Palm Address Book. If your
Palm and Windows Address Book had any common contact info,
then you may have duplicates in your Windows Address Book. You
will need to manually go through your Windows Address Book and
delete any duplicate entries.
-
Configure Express Sync to do a two-way sync. This is the
default, but you may want to double check this setting.
-
Perform a HotSync operation.
Your handheld and Windows Address Book should now have the same info.
